Founders
After a combined 5 years of service and commitment to the Black Lives Matter DC (BLM DC) Chapter, and the BLM Global Network, we, Nee Nee Taylor, Makia Green and Qiana Johnson, have fully transitioned from the organization to begin the next chapter of our journey as organizers in the movement for Black lives and liberation in DMV (DC, MD, VA). We would like to take a moment to share our powerful history in the movement.
Nee Nee Taylor
born and raised in Washington DC, is our modern-day Harriet Tubman. She is the Executive Director and a conductor for direct action, rapid response, and community aid for Harriets Wildest Dream and a leader in DMV Black Mama Bailout. She is the former Direct Action core organizer with Black Lives Matter DC. Her focus is to build power collaboratively with marginalized communities while transforming the systems that oppress all Black People.
Qiana Johnson
is a mother, a daughter, a sister and aunt, and a conductor of legal defense at Harriet’s Wildest Dreams. Qiana was born in Washington DC, and raised in Upper Marlboro, Prince George’s County, Maryland. As a formerly incarcerated person, Qiana is the founder of Life After Release, leader of DMV Mama Bailout, and a new graduate of University of Maryland University College with a Bachelors in Legal Studies in Public Safety. Qiana makes sure the Black Lives Matter in the courtrooms through education, court watch, and supporting systems involved people.
Makia Green
is a queer non-binary fat Black liberation organizer. They are a steering committee member of the Defund MPD Coalition, a former leader of DC Money Pot, and Organizing Director with DC Working Families Party. Their former role was a conductor of base-building, political organizing and political education for HWD
Makia stepped down from their position as a Co-Conductor within HWD in July 2023. They will always be a part of Harriet’s Wildest Dreams story.
